Marketing Manager

We’re looking for an experienced, data-focussed marketing manager to join our growing events team and help us reach and inspire the global tech community!

The company

We’re a young events company, based in Brixton, South London. We curate and deliver tech conferences and web developer training around the world, with a focus on high quality content and a friendly atmosphere. We’re not an events agency; we design and run our own conferences – everything from coming up with a concept to researching the market, programming the content, inviting the speakers, building the website, selling the tickets and ensuring everything runs smoothly on the day!

Established 4 years ago, we already run a number of successful events in the UK and the US, and are now expanding into other US and European markets, with conferences planned in New York, Austin, and Berlin in 2017/18, and other exciting locations in the pipeline.

The job

The marketing manager is responsible for owning, developing, and supervising the delivery of White October Events’ marketing strategy, with the aim of promoting ticket sales, raising awareness and generating interest in our events, and supporting the company's growth into the global market.

Using a data driven, user focussed approach, you will encourage your team to test, learn, optimise and explore new ideas.

The person


  • have 5+ years of marketing management experience, and a proven track record of devising strategies and managing multiple campaigns simultaneously across a variety of digital channels (including PPC, organic and paid social, and email marketing)
  • are a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, and experience working with and reporting on customer data
  • are a confident communicator with excellent written and spoken English
  • have great coaching and leadership skills, including the ability to delegate and give honest and constructive feedback
  • care about the things we care about: working hard, going the extra mile and treating people with kindness and respect
  • want to work as part of a small but ambitious team running seriously good events in the UK and beyond

This vacancy has arisen due to the upcoming departure of the current marketing manager, but there is plenty of scope to make the role your own. We’re looking for someone who has the confidence to critically assess our progress so far, and make practical and innovative recommendations for what we should try next.

A marketing qualification is not essential, nor do you need to have prior events or tech industry experience, although either would be a significant advantage. Our ideal candidate comes from a similar role and is ready to get stuck in and take over the strategy and supervision of marketing delivery for our upcoming conferences in the autumn and beyond.
